This class incorporates investigative scores that I have learned from my work with Rosy Simas over the years, as well as the many physical training methods that I’ve encountered and trained with as a performer and teacher. These techniques include yoga, Feldenkrais, Indigenous practices, cognitive re-patterning, Suzuki training, Viewpoints, Augusto Boal’s Games for Actors and Non-Actors, contemporary dance technique, gymnastics, and Min Tanaka's Body Weather/MB training. By centering love, respect, reciprocity, and empathy into this movement practice, we as a community will move towards an experience that flows with continuous non-stopping intention, pushing into our personal self-empowerment, agency, and empathy. It will also be really fun! EveryBody is welcome; every age is welcome.

Please wear comfortable clothing. This class is open to all kinds of movers, beginning, intermediate or advanced. Space is limited. Please email info@rosysimas.com to reserve a space.

Sam Aros Mitchell is Yaqui (enrolled Texas Band of Yaqui Indians). Sam earned his MFA in Dance Theatre from UC San Diego (Kumeyaay territory), and a BFA in Dance from UC Santa Barbara (Chumash territory). Sam has performed and taught professionally for over 25 years. He continues to work, teach, and learn, from within his Yaqui community, from within Native American and First Nations communities, and from within contemporary dance communities. He is currently in his fourth year of a performance studies PhD program at UC San Diego. sammitchelldance.com/
