Kimya is from Champaign, IL, and Atlanta, GA. She is a dancer, performance artist, doctoral trained Biobehavioral Health scientist, trained Reiki II provider, and Pochinko clown based in Philadelphia, PA. A Spelman College and Penn State graduate! In 2010, she was a scholarship recipient/participant in Urban Bush Women’s Summer Leadership Institute. Most recently, she was selected for a 2018 Painted Bride Artist Residency. She has performed with Philadanco training program, Eng &; Friends Dance Company, Donna Oblongata, Impermanent Society of Philadelphia, Nicole Bindler, and Joy Mariama Smith. And she has shown work at the Leah Stein Dance Company- Studio Works, Chi-Mac, Rotunda, Vox Populi, Community Education Center (CEC), Panorama, and Ponderosa Movement and Discovery- Germany. She is fascinated by the magic of the mundane- the extraordinary in the ordinary and believes that magical things are happening every day if one just pays attention.
